What Should You Expect on Your First Visit With Us?

At our offices the examinations are geared toward the detection and correction of the "Vertebral Subluxation" (click on this link for more information on subluxations) or "VSC". The procedures that we use are specifically selected for your spinal and nervous system health. There are a couple of procedures that you should expect on your first visit to our clinic;

Our thorough spinal and nervous system exam includes "Palpation". Palpation essentially is checking your spine by hand, with this exam the doctor can feel areas of your spine that may be related to your health or pain problems. Spinal position, curvatures, swelling, and muscle tone can also be examined as it relates to a possible misalignment. Your examination may include some specialized equipment designed to better access your spine and nervous system depending on the case.

The importance of each of these tests will be explained to you prior to your exam. However, it is important to note that our examination helps scientifically understand the subluxation processes going on in your spine. It also gives us a baseline for future tests so that we can accurately measure your progress as it returns to normal function. Using our examination procedures is much more accurate than only depending on "how you feel" on any given day.

Spinal x-rays may be taken depending on your age and case. There are many reasons why we would not take x-rays on patients including pregnancy, most children, recent usable spinal x-rays, and some other various situations. Aside from these situations, x-rays are a common part of the examination process when looking for vertebral subluxations. X-rays give us important information including the position of the spinal bones, the condition of the spinal joints, and safety of adjusting the spinal segments.  X-rays also tell us the relative length of time the subluxations(misalignments) may have been involved in your spine. The amount of x-rays taken varies with the patient and condition at the beginning of care.  Basically, x-rays are very important as they are the difference between knowing what is going on opposed to guessing.  "Your health and our reputation" are the best reasons of all.

The doctor will take the time to carefully analyze the x-rays taken so that the type of adjustments your spine may need as well as the frequency of your care can be determined. Your x-rays will be explained to you and covered in detail at your Report of Findings. Your Report of Findings is usually within a few days of your initial visit. This visit is one of your most important visits as your problem will be explained to you in detail . It is at your Report of Findings that we will give you a care plan and go over any special instructions you will need to obtain the fastest results. We have set aside specific times for these visits so as not to interfere with regular patient care hours and accept any questions you may have. Our staff will schedule your Report of Findings with you after your first visit.
